ALROSA says coronavirus outbreak at enrichment plant

YAKUTSK, Oct 6 (PRIME) – Twenty shift workers of the Nyurbinsky GOK ore enrichment plant of diamond producer ALROSA have tested positive for the coronavirus, the company said in a statement late on Monday.

An ALROSA official said that the company had introduced strict anti-epidemic measures, including obligatory observation of workers and tests before entrance to the mines.

"There are 800 shift workers on the Nyurbinsky GOK facility, samples were collected from all of them. The first 480 batch of samples revealed 20 positives and several results that are to be checked additionally. The majority of those who tested positive have no symptoms," the official said.

He said that the company could revise its safety rules.
